300th Anniversary Retrospective
In 2024, the Carpenters’ Company of the City and County of Philadelphia celebrated its 300th Anniversary with a year of spectacular celebrations and public programming, including the Historic Crafts and Trades Fair and the Young Peoples’ Continental Congress (the second installment of which is being held this summer at Carpenters’ Hall). In commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of the First Continental Congress, held in Carpenters’ Hall in 1774, in the fall, we hosted Building Independence, a collection of vignettes written and performed by Historic Philadelphia, Inc..
We ended our year with the 300th Anniversary and Awards Gala held at the historic Bellevue Hotel, where we hosted our 200th Anniversary in 1924, and a visit from the Worshipful Company of Carpenters from London, our parent organization.
Please view the video below for retrospective thoughts from the key leaders of our Anniversary celebrations plus some wonderful footage of the many events from 2024. Thank you to everyone who attended or contributed and made the year a great success!
